guide to freshers week

It’s that time of year again when fresher’s week rolls around and for one (or two) weeks everyone just gets absolutely wasted. At Beer Pong, we think there is a fine art to getting absolutely smashed for a full week, so we are here to give you a guide on how to keep the drinking fun during the WHOLE of Fresher's (even when you feel like death).

Here are some drinking games we recommend for each part of the week, to learn more about the rules click the link in each title. SO LET’S GO FRESHERS.

BEGINNING OF THE WEEK

beer pong

ARENT YOU EXCITED TO PARTY? You will hear the phrase “down it fresher” and “go hard or go home” a lot at the start of the week. So enjoy yourself… before the hangovers start kicking in.

Beer Pong
Now we may sound a bit biased here, but beer pong is a fantastic game. It’s particularly good for freshers too though, you get drunk, make fast friends, loyal teammates and it’s just hilarious fun. Bring this out towards the beginning of the week in fresher’s to have an easy way to bond with your new pals.

Centurion

Centurion is the true test of endurance, show your strength early on.

MIDDLE OF THE WEEK

cards against hunmanity

Okay, we know you’re hurting, stay strong, we are going to tone it down (just a little bit). Here are a few games that are still great fun, but won’t destroy your fragile fresher soul.

Cards Against Humanity

Another great game to bond too, let's all say terribly, shocking things and drink together.

Drinking games that don't need cards

(We know you lost them by Tuesday)

END OF THE WEEK

drinking jenga

OKAY LET'S GET BACK TO IT. You’re all mates by now, a little worse for wear but excited about the last few events before lectures start (sorry, never mention uni work in fresher’s week). These are some great games to play before you hit the town again!

Roxanne

A CLASSIC, it doesn’t matter how young and cool you are it is a CLASSIC we say. Rooooxxxxaaannneee.

Jenga Drinking Game

Play in teams. Test your skills, test your friendships, get drunk.

Now the end of the week is here and your head is pounding, stomach throbbing, and dignity a little more blemished than when you arrived, it’s time to take it easy and relax. Until next week's student night(s) of course...

Cakes

Can you believe the wonderful Great British Bake Off is back on our screens once again? We love this time of year. Cosy nights watching GBBO with an alcoholic drink in one hand and a slab of cake in the other. It's perfect.

Of course, this time around our favourite show has a very large Mary shaped hole. The show still has that wholesome feeling, but we can't help but miss our lovely Mary just a little bit. So, to fill this gap, we thought we would introduce one of Mary's favourite things to the show. That's right - hold tight for The Great British Bake Off Drinking Game

We hope you enjoy this Great British Bake Off Drinking Game for 2017 and we hope it fills the hole in your heart! Despite the changes, we still love the show and we hope you have a merry time watching it too. The Great British Bake Off is on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesdays.

With one of the biggest boxing matches of the century taking place on the weekend, boxing fans from around the world will be staying up late to watch Mayweather and McGregor trading blows. However, for people who aren't that interested in the fight but are just watching it because they don't really want to miss out, staying up that late can be tough, especially considering the fight is not scheduled to start until 5am!

To help pass the time and make the night more enjoyable in case the fights are a bit of a snoozefest, we imagine you'll be enjoying a few beverages, but why step up your alcohol intake and play our boxing drinking game whilst you're watching the big fight! We can promise you, the fight will be far more enjoyable, although you may not make it the full 12 rounds. Here's how to play our Mayweather vs McGregor drinking game:

Take One Drink:

Every time UFC is mentioned

Every time Floyd's undefeated streak is mentioned

Every time a celebrity is shown in the crowd

When one of the other boxers taunts his opponent

Every time the weight of the gloves are mentioned

At the end of each round

Every time one of the boxers spits out water in their corner

Take Two Drinks:

Every time Paulie Malignaggi is mentioned

If McGregor enters the ring with an Irish flag

If there is a shot below the belt

If they mention any of the press conference antics

If Floyd's father is mentioned

The boxer you're rooting for goes down

If a boxer is cut

Take Three Drinks When:

If the sun starts to rise whilst you're watching the fight

If neither boxer gets knocked down

If either boxer screams "Adriannnnn" after the fight

If the fighters hug it out after the match

If the boxer you're rooting for loses the match

If you're looking for other drinking games to play on fight night, you may be interested in some of our beer pong sets! We hope you enjoy the boxing match, and playing our drinking game - but as always, please ensure you drink responsibly!

Imagine this scenario. You're at a party, about to play some drinking games, but alas, someone has forgotten the playing cards. How will you go on? With dice drinking games, that's how! Whip out an old box of monopoly or trivial pursuit and introduce your newest drinking buddy to the crowd.

Now you've got your dice and drink in hand, here are some of the best Dice Drinking Games you can play to really get the party started.

6 Cups

For this dice drinking game you need:

At least 4 players

A die

Six cups

Beer

How to play:

Label each cup 1 to 6.

The first person who rolls the dice has to fill up the cup that matches that number with alcohol.

The second person then rolls the dice. If they roll the same number as the person before, they must drink the contents of that cup. If not, they must instead fill the cup that matches the number they rolled.

If you do not fill a cup on your first roll because it is already full, you must keep rolling the dice (and drinking the contents of the cups) until you fill an empty cup.

This game can go on until you're merry enough to continue your night!

Chase the Ace

For this dice drinking game you need:

At least four people

Two cups

Dice

Beer

How to play:

Sit in a circle and give two people who are sat opposite one another a cup with a dice in it.

Count down from three and then the two players should start rolling the dice out of the cup.

The number on the dice dictates the next move:

1 = pass the cup and dice to your left.

2 = keep your cup and dice.

3 = keep your cup and dice.

4 = the person to the left of you must take one drink.

5 = the person on your right must take a drink.

6 = you must take a drink.

Keep rolling until you get a 1 on your die. If you end up with both of the cups, you must down the rest of your beer.

Seven Eleven Doubles

For this dice drinking game you need:

4 people minimum

A shot glass

2 dice

Beer

How to play:

Get the group to sit around a table with the shot glass in the middle.

The person who starts the game must take both dice and roll them.

The aim is to get either a 7, 11 or any doubles. If you get any of these, you're able to tell someone else to drink.

The person you tell to drink must fill the shot glass with beer.

As soon as the person starts to drink, the person who told them to drink must roll the dice again as quickly as they can.

If the roll turns out to be another 7, 11 or double, the person drinking must do it again. This continues until the person rolling the dice gets something other than a 7, 11 or double. The next person must then take the turn of dice roller and the game goes on!

We hope you enjoy these dice drinking games! To take the night to another level after these games, why not browse our beer pong sets? As always, drink responsibly and be sure to stop if you think you've had enough.

three drinks

If you three Amigos are after a game to get the trio tipsy, you’ve come to the right place! Below are our top three drinking games for three people. Who said third wheeling has to be a bore?

Beer Pong for Three
Just like traditional beer pong, even if you’re no good at all it’s great fun. Get your cups, balls and beer ready and see who comes out on top.

  • Find table big enough for three people – you need to be spread out enough to make it a challenge. Or find three individual surfaces (we know you savvy students can make the most of cardboard boxes if needs be, so no excuse). Or even just use the floor!
  • Arrange yourselves into a triangle – Set up your cups like a usual game of beer pong, an equal distance away from each other.
  • Take turns without mercy – The difference between three-man beer bong and normal beer pong is the tactics. Will two of you team up against one before fighting to the death? Okay, not death, but until drunk or otherwise. Basically, just see who the last one standing is.

Two Truths, One Lie
How well do you really know each other? Whether you do or not, someone is going to have to drink.
The game is simple – each person (in no particular order) says three facts about themselves, two of which are completely true, and one that is a lie. The goal is to guess which one is a lie, so try not to be too obvious (I haven’t got my ears pierced, I’ve seen Coldplay live, I’ve seen a unicorn). If you guess correctly the liar drinks, if you don’t, you drink.

Count to Ten
A very simple concept with a difficult ending. This is a super quick game where you’ll hate each other and spend a lot more time counting then you’d expect.
The aim is simply, to count to 10. As there are only three of you it’s best to stand back to back for added difficulty – or increase the number to 20 (but say goodbye to your soberness). The goal is that as a trio, you count to ten without anyone saying the same number at the same time. If you try to say a number at the same time as someone else, you take a drink. A lot harder than it sounds!

We hope the three of you have a great time, but remember to always drink responsibly! If you need any accessories for your drinking games check out our products!
